Who are we?
The Working Group for Equal Treatment Issues (AKGL) is a legally established university body (cf. § 42 para. 1 UG), in which members of academic and general staff as well as students participate. In accordance with the statutes on the establishment of a working group for equal treatment issues, the University of Graz has 24 members and 12 substitute members. The Coordination Officers are responsible for the faculties/organizational units.
Who are we responsible for?
The AKGL is responsible for all members of the University of Graz: Members of academic and general university staff as well as students can turn to the AKGL in matters of equal treatment or discrimination, the advancement of women, sexual harassment or bullying.
Discretion, the preservation of anonymity and the self-determination of those who contact us are our top priorities. AKGL only takes steps or measures after explicit consultation with those affected.
What does the AKGL do?
The AKGL's task is to counteract discrimination by members of the University and to advise and support members and bodies of the University in matters of equal treatment and the advancement of women (§ 42 para. 1 UG). The AKGL also deals with issues relating to the advancement of women (§ 42 para. 1 UG in conjunction with § 41 para. 2 B-GlBG). The AKGL is granted extensive information, control and participation rights in order to carry out its tasks.
What else are we responsible for?
- Advice
- Supporting all appointment procedures, habilitation procedures, qualification and development procedures as well as general personnel procedures with regard to equal treatment and the advancement of women
- Participation in the awarding of teaching positions
- Appeals to the Arbitration Commission/Federal Equal Treatment Commission in cases of discrimination
- Contributions to committees and projects
- Reviewing the composition of committees with regard to the proportion of women
- Monitoring evaluations
- Assessing new curricula with regard to the integration of gender studies
